
MENDENHALL, MS — Simpson General Hospital was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from Healthcare Providers Insurance Company (HPIC) for the purpose of purchasing four new transport wheelchairs for the hospital. HPIC offers grants annually for the purpose of improving patient safety, employee safety, or risk management initiatives aimed at reducing occurrences and/or improving outcomes. The organization awards up to $75,000 annually to facilities that meet its extensive criteria.
SGH, under the direction of Shana Lane, Risk Manager, submitted its “Footloose and Fancy Free” grant request addressing the need for new wheelchairs to facilitate the safe transport of patients throughout the hospital and to vehicles upon discharge. Lane says, “The new wheelchairs are safe and durable, as well as being ergonomically designed to help reduce injury to staff. We are thrilled to have these new enhancements for our hospital.”
